Geneva Motor Show: 2010 Renault Megane Coupe-Cabriolet (CC)

2010 Renault Megane CC
The new Megane Coupe Cabriolet (better known as CC) has been launched, completing the renewal of the Megane family of compact cars. The new Megane CC was unveiled today at the Geneva Motor Show and according to the manufacturer is set to go on sale in the spring 2010. It will then compete against the Peugeot 308 CC, Ford Focus Coupe Cabriolet and Opel/Vauxhall Astra TwinTop. There won´t be a long wait for the car to transform from a coupe to a convertible as this process could be completed in only 21 seconds. Open-air driving is now more comfortable with the addition of a fixed-glass wind deflector located behind the rear headrests. The new car is claimed to provide improved performances due to its new and stiffer chassis as well as the new electric power steering system. Buyers of the Megane Coupe-Cabriolet will have the choice of seven gasoline and diesel powertrain options.
If you´re hoping to get any of the Petrol engines, keep in mind that the 1.6 16V 110hp engine is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox; the TCe 130 (Turbo Control efficiency) drives through a six-speed manual gearbox; the 2.0 16V 140hp engine is offered with the new continuously variable transmission (CVT) for more driving comfort due to smooth, step-less gearshifts. The Diesel engine range has Euro5-homologated powerplants: the dCi 110 DPF, mated either to the brand new six-speed EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch) dual-clutch automatic transmission or to a manual six-speed gearbox; the dCi 130 DPF which drives through a six-speed manual gearbox; and the dCi 160 DPF, also with a six-speed manual gearbox. The Douai plant in France will manufacture the new Megane CC, where Renault already builds the Scenic and Grand Scenic minivans. The Megane Coupe-Cabriolet will officially debut at the Geneva Motor Show where it will be showcased beside the new Renault Wind roadster set to rival cars such as the Peugeot 207 CC.
