Toyota has just displayed at the Geneva Motor Show its new Auris HSD, a British hybrid hatchback. The new Auris represents a paradox, being powered by a performance 2.0L diesel and significantly reducing CO2 emissions, at only 89g/km. The petrol engine version it's powered by a 1.8 L and a 60kW (80bhp) electric motor mated to a 27kWh nickel metal hydride battery. The car's total power reaches 134bhp and can be driven in electric mode up to 30mph for 1.2 miles. The HSD meets Euro5 emissions standards and is expected to also comply with forthcoming Euro6 requirements. Auris HSD is scheduled to go on sale in July. Further details of performance, technical specifications, model grades and equipment features will be announced nearer the launch date.
