Initial details on the Megane Sport Tourer, which was introduced today at the Geneva Motor Show, were made available by Renault. The latest Sport Tourer model is distinct from the regular Megane hatch version with its larger carrying capacity, longer wheelbase and overhang at the rear. The latest Sport Tourer comes with the same front face styling as that of the hatch model, but the side and rear have been revised to harmonize the longer look of the car. The Sport Tourer comes with trunk space of 524 liters but with the rear seats folded down it add 119 liters of extra cargo space. Engine lineup includes both gasoline and diesel units. For the gasoline there are five choices including the new TCe 130 powerplant which will be available at opening. This 1.4-liter unit is economy-focused and Renault claims it comes with the torque of a 2.0-liter and the potency of a 1.8, but its CO2 emission rating is lesser than that of a 1.6. The Sport Tourer also comes with an order option of 100hp (75kW) and 110hp (82kW) 1.6-liter gasoline units that come with manual gearboxes and 2.0-liter gasoline units paired to an auto transmission are also offered. The diesel units also come in a variety of guises. For instance the 1.5-liter dCi powerplant comes with a selection of three power levels, either equipped with particulate filter or not: dCi 86, dCi 106, and dCi 110 FAP. Featured on all the diesel units are relatively low levels of CO2 emissions of just 118g/km for the dCi 86 and 120g/km for the dCi 106. The top of the line diesel unit is the 2.0 dCi which come with power yields beginning with 140hp (104kW) to 160hp (120kW) maiximum.
