Article by Christian A., on February 26, 2010

The Citroen DS3 Racing, which will go on display at the Geneva Motor Show in March, was given an extensive makeover by Citroen's Racing department. The Citroen DS3 Racing is said to be a hot version of the upcoming Mini John Cooper. It also now boasts of higher-performance brakes than the standard car.

This model has a limited run, with only 1,000 units to be produced. The motor section is powered by a turbocharged 1.6-litre engine, which produces 197bhp and 203lb ft. Citroen Racing has achieved these gains by doing the following: tuning the turbocharger, remapping the ECU and adding a new sports exhaust system.

Features that were installed include stiffer suspension springs and new front and rear shock absorbers. The rear tracks were widened by 30mm and car was lowered by 15mm.

Special brakes were added and the ESP and steering been tuned to improve the car's handling. When it comes to styling, the car got a new lower body trim and wing extensions, 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome trim on the door handles and exhaust tip, and special chequered graphics on the roof.

For its interior, the car was given carbon trim on the dashboard, centre console and steering wheel. The dash and doorknob, which carry the vibrant orange theme, feature on the dash and gearknob.

Citroen is believed to want to leverage its success in the World Rally Championship more effectively. With its future World rally Car set to be based on the DS3, a hot mode with its future World rally car is currently responsible for providing the cars for Citroen's WRC effort.
