2012 Geneva Motor Show: Volkswagen reveals Winter Up! Concept

Article by Christian A., on March 6, 2012

Volkswagen reveals the so-called winter up! It is based on the near-production IAA concept vehicle dubbed the cross up! The four-door winter up! features a 'cool' styling and comes with a snowboard holder, which is currently available to order for units that hold four boards. As the name suggests, the winter up! has special attributes that are ideal for winter sports.

Aside from the snowboard holder, this front-wheel drive vehicle also comes with standard ESP that includes differential locks (EDS), which are undeniably practical in the snow.

Based on the four-door cross up!, the winter up! could possibly become a production automobile later on. This concept vehicle comes in two colors.

These are the 'malibu blue' and the 'pure white'. Specifically, the cool 'pure white' color paints the large body surfaces while the 'malibu blue' is utilized as a contrasting color for the impact surfaces of the door mirror housings, the seam running parallel to the side windows, and the bumpers.

Just like any Volkswagen unit based on the cross up!, the winter-inspired concept car comes with rugged exterior accents in 'Anthracite' with a satin effect on side sills and wheel wells. It also has the typical underbody protection at the back and front. The roof rail-mounted snowboard holder is convenient to operate, enabling up to four boards to be stowed or released within seconds.

The whole unit can be locked. Moreover, the carrier is designed to hold six skis. The interior and the exterior colors precisely complement each other. The seats are clad in 'glacier blue' and 'peak white'. In addition, they are enhanced with an embossed up! logo.
