Back in January, at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, MINI unveiled the John Cooper Works (JWC) Concept. Now, for the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, MINI prepared the all-new Clubman Concept. According to the official press release, the new Clubman Concept takes the Clubman a step further regarding the interior space and quality.
Showing the warm Berry Red colour, the Clubman Concept offers classic MINI design features such as the hexagonal radiator grille, Side Scuttles, the Black Band, short overhangs and elliptical front and rear headlights ensure high recognition value from every angle. Moreover, the concept car has a length of 4233 mm, a width of 1844 mm (not including the mirrors) and a height of 1450 mm.
MINI Clubman Concept is the first MINI to feature the so-called AirBreather at the side, which echoes the design theme of the AirCurtains in the front apron, cutting dynamically into the surrounding Black Band. At the rear we find the double roof spoiler, a third brake light integrated in between the two wings of the roof spoilers in Formula 1 style.
Just like the original Clubman, the new concept comes with the well-known split- doors featuring the ‘Clubman’ inscription and MINI logo. The interior has grown in the new Clubman Concept and the new vehicle promises to offer plenty of space for the pursuit of an active lifestyle.
MINI used plenty of unusual materials such as nubuck leather in a light Sky Blue, patent leather in rich Berry Red and black soft nappa leather. Furthermore, the interior features decorative strips in blue limed ash grain and small details such as the buttons with Union Jack embossment on the seats and central console, contrast stitching, piping or red accentuation surfaces in the sunblinds.
The leather-covered instrument panel is the most powerful presence of the interior and comes with a surround in blue limed ash grain and a white porcelain finish, while the black upper section of the instrument panel has a hovering appearance.
The linear air vents have patinised, silver-plated surrounds. Between the air vents there is an area in Black Chrome which can be back-lit if required that provides additional information for the driver and front passenger. The display area in the centre console (160mm x 150mm) adapts according to the content selected or the situation on the road. Three "intelligent" toggles are assigned the relevant content according to selected content or driving functions. [source: MINI]
