We already knew that SEAT is planning a crossover as the Spanish carmaker owned by the Volkswagen Group already unveiled the IBX Concept back in 2011, while in March 2014 the company officially announced its new compact SUV. At the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, SEAT unveiled the 20V20 Concept, a vehicle that previews its new SUV, which will go on sale in 2016.
The company describes its latest creation as a four-door sports coupe which combines several elements found on an SUV but also on a mid-sized estate car. The show car is 4.66 meters long and features a 2.79 meters wheelbase as well as a 1.65 meters-wide front track. In addition, it features 20-inch wheels as well as plenty of plastic design features that create a rugged look.
When it comes to design, the SEAT 20V20 Concept features an X theme on the front and rear, showing stylish LED headlights, a new front grille dominated by the company’s logo as well as a front bumper that features muscular design lines. Seen from the side, the 20V20 Concept shows a 22.8 cm ground clearance and the multispoke 20-inch wheels.
At the rear, we find LED taillights, a roof spoiler and a front bumper with integrated air diffuser and exhaust tailpipes. According to the company, the new crossover will be able to accommodate a variety of different engines such as petrol or diesel as well as plug-in hybrid powertrains. The high-tech interior features a beautiful display that replaces the traditional instrument cluster as well as the navigation display.
SEAT says that the interior offers plenty of space and premium ambience for up to five persons, as well as plenty of driver assistance systems that raises the levels of comfort and safety. Although there aren’t any precise interior dimensions, the 20V20 Concept will offer more than 600 liters of luggage space. We expect the new crossover to be based on VW Group’s MQB platform and to be built at Skoda’s plant in the Czech Republic.
For those who don’t know, Skoda will also launch its own seven-seat SUV by the end of 2016.
