Geneva Motor Show: Sportec SP550 Mean+Clean

Article by Christian A., on August 29, 2009

The supercar SP 550MC, which yields in excess of 550hp, is now available for competition in its class. With the sporty understatement of Sportec, the 997 Turbo has turned into a high-speed machine with greatly lowered carbon emissions.

Even though it comes with the latest CO2-reduced natural gas technology, the turbo performance can further be enhanced. The result is that the mean&clean variant of the SP 550 offers stunning performance and high torque figures.

This Swiss high-precision engine comes with two exclusive Sportec turbochargers together with Sportec sports exhaust system equipped with a muffler system and high-yield catalyst.

High air-intake requirement is met by a unique filter with an optimized flow rate. All the components of the control unit of the powerplant have been individually reprogrammed on the Sportec Four-Wheel test platform. This precision testing has consequently helped the 550hp Sportec model to produce an enormous 750Nm at 4030 rpm.

The SP550mc is thus propelled from standstill to100km/h in just 3.7 seconds and from 0-200km/h in 11.0 seconds. The maximum speed for this high-speed demon is 331km/h.

Optional upgrades are available for the vehicle consists of a Sportec front spoiler that has been aerodynamically optimized, side skirts, 3-part apron at the back and a bigger GT-style rear wing spoiler. There are plans by Sportec to introduce the mean&clean variant for other models soon.
