Geneva Preview: Novitec Rosso 848 Race based on Ferrari 599 GTB

Article by Christian A., on January 29, 2010

German tuning firm Novitec Rosso will bring the Race 848 extreme supercar at the Geneva Motor Show. The firm has every right to be enthusiastic about the Ferrari 599 GTB-based Novitec Rosso Race 848, which generates 848 HP and 842 Nm. There's no reason to doubt these figures as Novitec Rosso has been known to be amazing at playing with the car's V12 engine.

The powerplant currently uses two compressors that deliver 0.48 bars of boost pressure. Novitec Rosso also installed a new water-to-air intercooler, bespoke intake manifold, new injectors and a sport air filter. Aside from that, the Race 848 features a stainless steel quad sport exhaust system.

A new engine management system oversees these features. The tuned up car boasts a 228 HP and 234 Nm premium over the stock car's figures. The Race 848 is able to accelerate from zero to 100km/h in 3.4 seconds; while the 200 km/h mark is crossed in 6.2 seconds. A speed of 300 km/h is achieved in 23.7 seconds. Top speed is recorded at 345 km/h.

Novitec Rosso has got an aerodynamic package that enables the car to handle this speed. The car was given a front spoiler lip, rocker panels featuring large brake cooling ducts, a rear diffuser and a rear spoiler. To control this much power, the supercar uses a height-adjustable suspension that features a front-end hydraulic lift system.

The front of the car could then be raised by 40mm at a push of a button, when the driver sees certain obstacles or speed bumps on the road. Upgrades have been made on the braking system. It now uses the largest brake components eligible for road use: 405 mm steel brake discs and six-piston calipers developed by Brembo.

The bespoke creation rides on three-piece Novitec Rosso NF3 wheels (20 inch for the front axle and 21 inch for the rear one), wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tires. The car is painted a matte white color and grey accents could be seen on the roof and parts of the hood.

The car also has black side markers and black tail lights. The interior will be tailor made and will feature materials such as aluminum, leather and carbon fiber. There would only be three examples of this car to be made. To emphasize its exclusivity, there will be a special metal plate located in the interior of the car.
