There has been no confirmation yet of the Infiniti Emerg-e electric sports car concept but images of this concept car have already been leaked online. But this will probably not bother Infiniti too much since it’s expected to make its public debut at the Geneva Motor Show within just a few days. Infiniti started giving teasers about the car last November. It had shown interview videos that had partial close-ups. Its patent office design sketches had also been released.
There aren’t many details available of the Emerg-e images but Infiniti has said that this electric powered "uncompromising" sports car has a range-extended capability due to its 1.2-liter engine that was mounted mid-ship to offer the most favorable weight distribution and handling. Infiniti said that the Emerg-e is its first car to not only feature a range-extender drivetrain but to also offer "vivid performance" with zero emissions.
The Infiniti Emerg-E is a super advanced, mid-ship, electric-powered sports car concept. The fast and near-silent sports car projects Infiniti's advanced electric vehicle technology into the future with its range-extender powertrain. This powertrain delivers the superior performance expected from an Infiniti sports car.
What’s more, the Emerg-E’s thrilling performance is combined with the scope to run for up to 30 miles in urban conditions, with zero emissions. Actually, it emits a maximum of 55g/km of CO2 over a 300-mile range. It also lays down a new and radical marker for mid-ship sports vehicles, and it explores an alternative propulsion avenue that Infiniti is considering.
The Infiniti Emerg-E concept came from Francois Bancon’s department. Bancon is the division general manager for exploratory and advanced product at Infiniti. According to him, he thought about how the company can be innovative, and they started with Essence. Essence was very successful, yet it was arguably not a flagship for dynamic performance. He recalled that after this came Etherea, which indicated the future of the company in the compact luxury car segment. Now, they have to think about an emblem or a flagship for the brand, one that isn’t necessarily big because Infiniti is all about sporty cars and inspired performance.
Lastly, one of the Infiniti Emerg-E program’s inspirations is the creation of a dynamic, sporty, and unusual flagship. However, equally important is for the company to continue exploring alternative propulsion systems. This is a logical step for a company already selling advanced Infiniti M35h. This exploration actually takes an unusual form when it comes to the Emerg-E, its range-extender driveline being a first for Infiniti.
