Official: Subaru 216A/Toyobaru Concept confirmed for 2011 Geneva Motor Show

Subaru announced today that at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show in March it will unveil a rear-wheel drive sports technology concept (sister model of the Toyota FT-86), the so-called Toyobaru or Subaru 216A. The new concept car will be based on company’s new platform and will offer firm’s distinctive trademark and core technology: the "Horizontally-Opposed Subaru Boxer engine".

According to Subaru, the new concept will also demonstrate how the all-new car platform makes full use of Subaru's engineering and Boxer technology.

Moreover, the Japanese manufacturer also announced that the 2011 Geneva Motor Show will also see the Subaru Impreza Concept, which previews the brand’s design direction for the upcoming Impreza models.

This concept is powered by the new generation Subaru Boxer engine, a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder horizontally-opposed engine mated to a Lineatronic (CVT) transmission.

Furthermore, the 2011 Geneva Motor Show will also mark the debut on the Subaru Trezia in Europe, known as the "New Compact Smart Wagon".

The European market will receive 1.3-litre petrol engine and 1.4-litre turbo diesel engines. Equipped with the 1.4-litre turbo diesel engine, Subaru says that the Trezia will deliver CO2 emissions of 113 g/km.
