It’s not a secret that Ferrari is planning something big for this year’s 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Some say that it will be a hybrid version of the 599 GTB Fiorano but…. It appears that British magazine AutoExpress says that it will be a shooting brake concept based on the 612 Scaglietti.
According to the same sources, it seems that the new concept, which will be powered by a V12 engine, will be built for two reasons: one is to see how far can Ferrari expand its lineup, and second to transform the 612 Scaglietti into a super coupe.
Same source confirmed the fact that Ferrari will never build an SUV, due to the fact that it will kill the Ferrari tradition known as one of the best sports cars manufacturer. Ferrari sources describe the upcoming car as more versatile.
Still, Ferrari officials denied the rumors regarding a possible four dour saloon, which means a fastback design for the next-generation GT makes the most sense.
Moreover, Ferrari is not new to the shooting brake idea, as the Italian manufacturer built plenty of one-offs for wealthy Middle Eastern and Asian buyers. The 456 GT-based Pininfarina-bodied shooting brake built for the Sultan of Brunei is the best example.
