Geneva Preview: 2010 Vw CrossGolf makes its debut

2010 Vw CrossGolfVolkswagen unveiled today the brand new CrossGolf, which successfully completes the Golf line consisting of the classic Golf, Golf Plus, Golf Variant, Golf GTI and the Golf R introduced just a few weeks ago. Based on the Golf Plus, the new car is actually a bridge between the MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) and SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle), which means it unifies the variability of an MPV with the ruggedness of a SUV. Set to make its market debut in April, the new CrossGolf introduces a new generation of engines that offer huge fuel economy advantages. Continued after the jump! The 1.4 TSI delivers 118 kW / 160 hp and 240 Nm of torque, is mated to a 6-speed gearbox, has a top speed of 207 km/h and delivers a fuel consumption of just 6.8 litres of fuel (equivalent to 159 g/km CO2); same engine is available with an optional 7-speed DSG. Other available TSI engines are the variants with 77 kW / 105 hp and 90 kW / 122 hp. The TDI range brings a 1.6-liter capable to deliver 77 kW / 105 hp and a 2.0-liter with 103 kW / 140 hp. Mated to a 6-speed gearbox, the 2.0-liter engine shows an impressive fuel consumption of just 5.3 litres of fuel per 100 km (138 g/km CO2). Voslkwagen also offers the DSG gearbox for four of five engines (excepting the 105 hp TSI) as it follows: the petrol engines and the 105 hp TDI get a 7-speed version while the 140 hp TDI receives a 6-speed variant specially designed for extremely high torques. Regarding the design, this follows the new Volkswagen Design DNA and this means we have the horizontally aligned band of the radiator grille between the headlights that is reflected in the horizontal form of the front bumper. The CrossGolf comes with a ride height increased by 20 millimetres (standard rough road chassis with 111 millimetres ground clearance). The exterior styling is rounded out by chrome accents and "CrossGolf" signature on the side trim as well as new 17-inch alloy wheels ("Budapest"). The new car is offered with a choice of six colours: colour "Candy White", "United Grey", "Reflex Silver Metallic", "Shadow Blue Metallic" and "Cashmere Brown Metallic" to the classic "Deep Black Pearl Effect". The CrossGolf comes from the factory with features that include electric adjustable and heated door mirrors, rear lights in LED technology, green tinted heat-insulating glass, daytime running lights and central locking with RF remote control. Other options include a leather interior ("Vienna" type), bi-xenon headlights with dynamic cornering lights and a rearview camera. 2010 Vw CrossGolf 2010 Vw CrossGolf 2010 Vw CrossGolf 2010 Vw CrossGolf 2010 Vw CrossGolf 2010 Vw CrossGolf 2010 Vw CrossGolf 2010 Vw CrossGolf 2010 Vw CrossGolf 2010 Vw CrossGolf
