Alpina B6 GT3

Just recently, the German tuning firm Alpina joined the FIA GT3 European Championship with its B6 GT3 after a 20 year silence. The Alpina GT3 racer, which is based on the present BMW 6-Series, will battle racecars from Aston Martin, Ferrari and Porsche. The racecar, which comes with a low center of gravity, a set of 18-inch Michelin wheels and weighs 1,350kg (2,976 lbs) will also be available for public purchase. It also comes with a potent 4.4-liter supercharged V8 powerplant that can generate 530 hp (390 kW) and 725 Nm of torque. Power is channeled to the tires via a 6-speed sequential gearbox which enables the racecar to sprint from 0-100 km/h in an impressive 3.9 seconds with maximum speed of 285 km/h. To fill up its team's four driving seats, Alpina is currently in negotiations with a number of motorsport personalities. The car will be introduced in next month's Geneva Motor Show together with the brand new Alpina B7.
