Nissan NV200
The Nissan NV200 concept that was released in 2007 at the Tokyo Motor Show has currently a production version which will be showcased at the Geneva Motor Show next week. The new NV200 is seen as a light commercial transport that continues to be ground-breaking and elegant. The van was designed to provide commercial and family transportation and comes with three-row seating capacity with sliding door access to the rear section. The interior layout can be rearranged according to the riding needs of up to seven passengers and the presence of inventive storage solutions. There will be three different variants of the NV200, including a standard van and two 7-seat versions and a passenger version will be shown at the Geneva event. The Nissan NV200 is 4,400mm long and has a load space of more than 2,040mm.
The NV200 is 1,840mm high and is comparable to the competition, although at 520mm from the ground the floor of the van is the lowest in its class which aid in loading cargo and increase cargo space to 4.1 cubic meters. The maximum payload the van can accommodate is 771kg. The NV200 is based on a modified version of the B Platform of Nissan with fully independent front suspension mounted on a separate sub-frame and a compact and lightweight yet tough wide spring axle at the rear.
Two powerplant options are available for the van including one gasoline and one diesel. The gasoline unit will be propelled by an all-aluminum 1.6-liter HR16 powerplant by Nissan, which is also found in the Micra, Note and Qashqai. The 16-valve engine generates 108hp (79kW) and is paired to a 5-speed manual. The diesel, which also comes with the Note and Micra, is derived from a Renault engine and can produce 86hp (63kW) from its 1.5-liter displacement. According to Nissan the NV200 will be available in the global market with the US getting a slightly different variant. At the Detroit Auto Show last month, Nissan showed the NV2500 van concept that showed in advance Nissan‚ entry into the North American Commercial Vehicle (CV) outlet.
