According to the latest reports, it appears that GM is almost ready to reclaim its position as the world's highest selling car maker from Toyota. Although GM and Toyota are losing ground to Volkswagen, it seems that General Motors is ready to become again the world's top selling car maker. For those who don't know, GM had this title for almost 80 years, before losing out last year to Toyota. Regarding the Volskwagen sales, these declined to only 5.1 per cent, very small comparing it to Toyota's drop of 26 per cent and GM's 21.%. Ford also suffered the biggest year-on-year sales drop, with almost 30.6 per cent. 1. Toyota Motor Corp. (26.0%) 2. General Motors Co. (21.8%) 3. Volkswagen AG (-5.1%) 4. Hyundai-Kia (n/a) 5. Ford Motor Co. (-30.6%) 6. PSA Peugeot-Citroen (-14.0%) 7. Honda Motor Co. (-21.6%) 8. Nissan Motor Co. (-23.2%) 9. Suzuki Motor Corp. (-10.2%) 10. Renault SA (-16.5%) [via autonews]
