It was made public by GM today that it will be making a small vehicle in an undisclosed facility in the US. The latest car will be added to the scheduled 2011 Chevrolet Volt and Cruze, although it has not yet been revealed which diminutive it will be or when it will begin production. There are speculations saying that it might be released in between the release of the Volt, which has been set to be late next year, and the Cruze, which will try an early 2010 launch.

The Chevrolet Spark, patterned after the long-lived Beat which was unveiled in 2007, looks to be like one of the candidates. With the brand ongoing brand shuffle at GM, and an expected bankruptcy filing by June 1, there are possibilities that other models will also be produced in the US. Considering that the small car segment is the fastest growing segment today, GM is hoping that their new small car will be appealing to both the present and future clients of GM in the States.
