GM continues revamp of Buick, GMC dealerships

2011 Buick Regal

The renovations of Buick and GMC dealerships are progressing well, according to Brian Sweeney, vice president of sales and service for the brands. Sweeney revealed that about 40% of the brands' 2,300 dealerships have either begun or completed improvements. Meanwhile, about 30-40% will begin renovations in 2011. General Motors Co.’s current dealer facilities upgrade program is its largest ever.

Of the 1,000 GM dealerships that will begin or complete the program this year, about 700 are Chevrolet dealers. In an interview with Sam Slaughter, dealer principal of Sellers Buick GMC in suburban Detroit, he said that customers appreciate the store renovation, which cost $1.7 million and was completed last December.

What Slaughter had constructed was a new showroom. He also renovated the exterior and the old showroom was transformed into a café and customer waiting area with Internet. [via autonews - sub. required]
