Press reports say that General Motors Co. is expected to sign a deal to sell Saab to Spyker Cars NV on Monday or early next week. Dutch luxury sports car maker Spyker has reportedly offered GM a combination of cash and preferred shares in a new Saab worth $500 million. GM is said to be satisfied in principle about the offer. According to the Web site Saabs United, a Spyker car had been delivered to Saab's museum in Trollhattan, Sweden. The Web site speculates that the announcement of the GM-Spyker will be made against a backdrop of historic Saab cars and a luxury Spyker model. The Financial Times believes that the announcement is tentatively scheduled for Monday. On the other hand, Bloomberg and Dagens Industri think that while the Spyker-Saab deal is not a sure thing, the sale may be finalized by early next week. [via autonews]
