The partnership between General Motors Co. and SAIC Motor Corp. may soon expand to include SAIC taking a stake in General Motors India, according to an unnamed source who spoke to India's Economic Times. The two companies are currently in talks to explore new business opportunities that include India, one of the world's fastest-growing auto markets. GM produces the Cadillac, Buick and Chevrolet models in Shanghai under a tie-up with SAIC, says Automotive News. The partners also manufacture Wuling-brand minivans and pickups in south China. The source added that no final decision has been made on how they will cooperate. When asked to comment, SAIC said only that it was continuing discussions on further business opportunities with GM, while GM made no statements.
