GM offering free maintenance visits to current Pontiac owners

In an attempt to prevent Pontiac customers from straying to other brands, General Motors Co. will be providing a free maintenance program. GMls decision to shut down Pontiac will likely discourage many from buying a GM brand in the future and so it went with this different approach to attract Pontiac owners into the existing Buick-GMC US dealerships. GM is offering four free service checks to current Pontiac owners who bought a new car or a certified vehicle in 1999 or sooner.

Brian Sweeney, general manager of Buick-GMC, said that those participating in the campaign would total to about 1 million and that all Buick-GMC dealerships in the US will be participating in this scheme as well. GM officials think that these actions will maintain relations with the existing customers and improve GM's image. Sweeney said that the company believes that the best way to keep the relationship with the Buick-GMC dealer was through service. Dealerships are bound to benefit from the campaign. GM thinks that improving relations with the existing customers is a top priority for any Buick-GMC dealerships that wants to continue the business with the Pontiac brand. [via autonews]
