Due to the risk that the airbag modules of some of its vehicles don’t comply with the federal standards for head injury protection, General Motors is recalling over 38,000 Pontiac G8 models. The automaker seeks to reprogram airbag modules for the front passenger seats. The recall covers vehicles produced for the 2008 and 2009 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that this recall covers 38,444 Pontiac G8 models, which were built in Australia and imported to the U.S. The tests done in Australia have led to the discovery of this issue. So far, there have been no crashes, injuries or complaints involving this airbag problem.
