Even after selling off its Saturn brand, GM promises to launch a new plug-in by 2011. Plans were announced last year to launch a Saturn Vue plug-in hybrid SUV, which could travel up to 10 miles using only the lithium-ion battery pack. GM Vice-chairman Tom Stephens said, "I can tell you that I won't lose one day in terms of customers being able to walk into dealerships and actually purchase a plug-in SUV." Powering the Saturn Vue is a 3.6-liter petrol engine along with the mains rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. This plug-in hybrid SUV now ranks along the company's other key brands - Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, and GMC. [via autocar]
