The labor troubles of Indian transmission parts supplier Rico Auto Industries have affected the operations of two plants -- Ford Motor Co.'s Oakville, Ontario plant and General Motors Co.'s Delta Township, Mich. crossover plant. The GM plant will be closed next week because of a parts shortage as a result of the labor conflict. Delta Township, located near Lansing, produces the Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia and is being retooled for the Chevrolet Traverse crossover. On the other hand, Oakville builds the Ford Edge, Ford Flex, Lincoln MKX and Lincoln MKT crossovers. Rico Auto Industries is located in the industrial city of Gurgaon, 30 miles outside of New Delhi. A Ford spokesman had come out to confirm its relationship with Rico earlier this week. GM's relationship with Rico has also been confirmed by a source recently.
