To raise the output of the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain at General Motors’ Canadian assembly plant, its workforce will get 100 more persons and the speed of its assembly line will be adjusted. Dan Borthwick, president of Canadian Auto Workers Local 88, said that these changes at the CAMI Automotive Inc. plant in Ingersoll, Ontario, will boost production by over 50 vehicles each day to more than 1,100. These plans were confirmed by GM of Canada spokeswoman Faye Roberts.

For almost two years, the plant has operated with three shifts as well as Saturday overtime shifts in order to meet the demand. GM has made efforts to increase production but due to the demand, the Equinox and Terrain continue to be in short supply.

This is actually the fifth time since 2009 that GM has increased production of the crossovers. Last Monday, Don Johnson, GM's U.S. sales chief, admitted that Equinox and Terrain is still in tight supply but he declined to comment on plans to increase output.
