For Chevrolet to be more competitive, General Motors Co. is looking to enhance its advertising strategies and will soon be entering meetings with various agencies. However, Campbell-Ewald, its incumbent agency, will continue to be the volume brand's agency of record, according to two executives familiar with the matter. It is still unknown what advertising agencies will be invited or whether GM will be hiring a consultant for the process, says Automotive News. A GM spokesman gave a confirmation of this report, saying that Chevrolet is reaching out to other advertising agencies for its upcoming brand and product campaigns, which are meant to expand its global presence. The spokesman also confirmed that Campbell-Ewald will remain to be the lead agency to handle product information, brand catalogs and retail support. Campbell-Ewald is reportedly welcome to throw in its sales pitch. Non-roster shops are welcome as well. An unnamed source said that GM is only doing this for Chevrolet and not for its other brands.
