With the cancellation of the traditional British Motor Show at Excel, Goodwood has decided to launch a new motor show this summer dubbed as the Moving Motor Show. It will take place on the Thursday before the Festival of Speed.
What makes enthusiasts all giddy is that new car buyers can test drive cars around a "special evaluation route" on the Goodwood estate. Lord March said that the company is currently building a new pavilion to be a focal point of its road car displays. Continued after the jump!
The Moving Motor Show will be a key part of the Festival. Lord March said that he represents the biggest car show in the world and that carmakers can receive their new cars in front of the public and be applauded for it.
He added that Goodwood's supercar exposure at the Festival of Speed has quickly gained popularity over the years. Goodwood is setting up the new show also due to the end of the bi-annual SMMT shows.
A success could mean an extension for the show as well as getting specially-themed days for certain types of cars, as well as dedicated days for fleet, private and trade buyers. Lord March said that the increasing popularity of manufacturers' static stands at the Festival has encouraged him to launch the show. Most carmakers selling in the UK, whether niche or major, will be attending the show, ensuring all market sectors in the UK are covered.
