Joint ventures have been formed by China’s Great Wall Motor Co. with U.S.-based BorgWarner Inc. and Germany’s Robert Bosch GmbH of Germany for the engineering of key components. The Bosch partnership is intended to develop engine management systems and brakes. In 2006, Bosch began supplying common rail fuel systems for diesel engines fitted on Great Wall's Haval SUV and Wingle pickup.

Great Wall has created a joint venture with BorgWarner to create designs of timing chains for transmissions and torque management systems. It’s expected that BorgWarner's torque management system will be used on Great Wall's Haval H6 by the end of 2011. Since 2005, BorgWarner has been building parts for Great Wall.

Previously, the company has provided turbochargers and transfer cases to Great Wall, a privately owned automaker based in the northeast China city of Baoding. J.D. Power and Associates revealed that in 2010, its sales increased by 90% to 294,181 units.
