Hennessey Performance is offering an upgrade package for the McLaren MP4-12C that would turn the supercar into a more superior 800-hp hypermachine. Although the car still runs on 3.8-liter twin-turbo engine, Hennessey provided the improvements to chip in an additional 208 hp by upgrading the turbos, intercooler and air-intake system. The Texas tuner also fitted a titanium exhaust, new waste gates and blow-off valves. Hennessey tuned the transmission to handle the extra engine power.
A regular McLaren MP4-12C could accelerate from zero to 60 mph and has a top speed of 205 mph. Following the tune up, the figures are sure to improve drastically. Hennessey admits that it did not touch the car’s brakes and the suspension.
The tuner, however, gave MP4-12C a Carbon Aero body kit, Hennessey blacked-out monoblock wheels and a custom interior. The car’s is also given a blood-red finish. The car’s engine parts will be available in pieces or as a package at prices that have yet to be announced. Hennessey’s upgrade package is installed under a two-year/24,000-mile guarantee.
"We've been taking fast cars and have been making them faster for over twenty years," said company founder and president John Hennessey. "I spent a lot of time around the new 12C at the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed and was very impressed. We're excited to have the opportunity to take a great car and give it our own special performance touch while giving 12C owners a uniquely aggressive appearance".
