Honda NSX sports car canceled

The latest NSX was canceled by Honda as part of a drastic restructuring of its auto-manufacturing enterprise. The supercar that comes with a V10-engine, which was a direct rival to Ferrari and Porsche, would have been the most potent factory car that the firm has ever manufactured. In his year-end speech, Honda CEO Takeo Fukui announced the move, saying that all development of the vehicle would be called off. The firm has also pulled out of its intention to inaugurate the Acura brand to Japan in 2010.
The Honda CEO had emphasized the significance of the NSX to Honda's brand, unambiguously telling Autocar at the end of the previous year: "The new supercar is necessary for Honda."Fukui had decided to concentrate on Honda's environmental credentials. He believes that hybrid drivetrains offer "the most realistic path for CO2 reduction at this moment".
This shows that Honda will concentrate its energy on developing hybrid technologies and "achieving mass market penetration as soon as possible". The stoppage of the Honda NSX will come as a bitter disenchantment to enthusiasts of the old version, which ultimately ceased sale in 2005, after being produced for 15 years.
