Honda to begin production of the hydrogen fuel-cell-powered FCX Clarity

Against all odds, Honda is proceeding with its plans to start mass production of its hydrogen fuel-cell-powered FCX Clarity. A key market for hydrogen technology is the US but the Obama administration has not been highly supportive of a hydrogen network and has instead leaned towards electric car technology. Another key market the UK doesn't have a hydrogen network too. Takashi Moriya, head of the Honda group, said that fuel-cell cars will soon become 'necessary' and that the FCX Clarify is positioned as the ultimate zero-emission car. Currently, only Honda is offering its fuel-cell vehicles to members of the public for leasing. GM and Toyota are said to follow Honda's direction. While GM plans to launch a fuel-cell car by 2012, Toyota would be bringing its own fuel-cell car to the market within six years.
