Honda is the recipient of several 2009 ALG Residual Value Awards in the US. The Accord was named the Best Midsize Car, the Jazz (Fit in the US) model was named the Best Compact Car and the Odyssey Minivan won in the Best Minivan category. Since 2001, Honda has won 20 of these model awards, proving "Honda's commitment to offer high-quality products with long-term value," according to John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co. Mendel explains that in this economy, "residual value moves up on the list of buyer considerations." Honda was the big winner but the Acura brand also scored the Luxury Brand Residual Award for the second consecutive year. James Clark, General Manager of ALG, said that Acura, unlike most luxury brands, has decided to stick with front-wheel drive platforms and smaller engines. Clark said that this decision has "served it well in the current uncertain times." He said that Acura got two consecutive nods due to its "outstanding reliability, simple packaging schemes and value pricing with low incentive levels."
