Honda’s new high-performance hybrid coupe rumored again

Rumors are quickly spreading about the 2011 Honda CR-Z getting a larger, more powerful hybrid sports coupe version (but this is not new to 4WheelsNews readers as we revealed it in this post). Honda's new CR-Z sports hybrid is equipped with a small 1.5-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor delivers just 118 horsepower. Motor Trend spoke with a Honda insider, who said that there are plans for a larger hybrid sports coupe to be released very soon.
This car is believed to offer a better performance than the upcoming CR-Z. There isn't much information about this vehicle but it's believed that the car was initially designed to mate a V-6 with a hybrid system. Engineers are thinking about using a more efficient 2.5-liter I-4 instead of the six-banger.
Meanwhile, the V-6 system is being considered to be used in US-spec minivans and SUVs. Honda's planned hybrid sports coupe is said to be about the same size as the current Accord Coupe -- providing seating for four. This car is expected to outperform the CR-Z but it will still be highly efficient. A Honda engineer said that company will offer driver-selectable settings to aim for either performance of fuel economy.
