Hurst to build 50 Ford Racing Mustang Challenge pace cars

2010 Hurst Ford Racing Mustang Challenge Pace Car

Fifty examples of the latest Mustang Hurst Performance pace car that was seen at the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge series will be offered to the public. The tuning company said that these 50 cars will be exact clones of the pace car at Virginia International Raceway last month. Aside from adding a gold-on-black paint scheme and pace car graphics, the company will bolt a Ford Racing supercharger onto the 4.6-liter V-8. The cars will also be fitted with a K&N air filter and a Ford Racing cat-back exhaust.

The revisions will raise output to 550hp and 542 pound-feet of torque. These cars also get an upgraded brake system (complete with 14-inch rotors and four-piston front calipers), 20-inch polished aluminum wheels, BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW high-performance rubber, and a Hurst Competition/Plus shifter. These pace car replicas also get a custom leather interior, embroidered headrests, and commemorative emblems inside and out. Hurst has plans to auction the original pace car this January that will benefit the Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer.
