Hybrid Rolls-Royce Ghost in the works
According to the latest reports, it appears that Rolls-Royce is working on a hybrid version of its upcoming luxury sedan, the Ghost.
The Rolls-Royce Ghost will carry the same technology found on the brand new Bmw ActiveHybrid 7 and the 6.2-litre V12 563bhp, 575lb ft petrol engine will be assisted by an electric motor in a mild hybrid application. The vehicle will also have a start-stop system in order to reduce even more the fuel consumption. The electric motor will develop 20kW/155lb ft and will be fitted in the car’s eight-speed ZF-engineered automatic transmission. Sources confirm that the kinetic energy will be stored in a 0.6kW/h lithium-ion battery pack mounted in the boot. Also, it appears that the new Ghost Hybrid will not feature a traditional alternator because the engine will be started using the electric motor while the fuel consumption will be with almost 15% better comparing it to the standard model!
