Hyundai debuts the new i30 three-door

2013 Hyundai i30 three-door

The New Generation i30 three-door was introduced before its global debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. This is the third model to come out from the New Generation i30 family, joining the five-door hatchback and the Tourer to increase the appeal of Hyundai’s ‘made for Europe’ C-segment range to a broader audience. The appeal of the three-door is central to its unique and sporty style. The new model makes use of Hyundai’s ‘fluidic sculpture’ form language. It has a sharply-raked beltline, a glasshouse silhouette that’s more angular, and longer front doors lend a profile that’s more dynamic. Enhancing its effect are modifications to the front and rear styling. Hyundai’s hexagonal grille is emphasized by a new, black-finished mesh insert and central bar. Found at each side of the grille are new, sportier fog lamp clusters that have round spots linked to LED daytime running light strips. The clusters still have the mesh treatment while the front-end design gets a recently-profiled lower bumper.

The remodelled lower bumper area, at its rear, has new horizontal, sculpted fog lamps that could be distinguished from the upright units of the five-door. The rear design appears wider and sportier due to these lights and a new black insert at the bottom of the bumper. It also runs on unique 16-inch alloy wheels. New Generation i30 three-door keeps the positive features of the five-door and continues to offer impressive levels of quality, equipment and comfort.

The drivers are able to experience its ride and handling that’s typical of European tuning. The settings of the FLEX STEER system indicate that its steering assistance can be switched, depending on what they like as well as the current conditions. Buyers of the New Generation i30 can choose from four engines and five power outputs, as well as between six-speed manual and automatic transmissions. The powertrain lineup includes the ‘U-II’ 1.6-litre diesel engine, which delivers 128PS but has CO2 emissions of just 97g/km. With these elements, this model is able to offer the best power-to-efficiency ratio in the segment.
