Hyundai-Kia is the fourth-largest automaker in the world

2010 Hyundai EquusHyundai-Kia achieved a mean feat of surpassing Ford’s car sales in the first half of 2009. When 2008 ended, Hyundai-Kia was trailing Ford by about 1 million annual sales. However, in the first six months of 2009, Hyundai-Kia outsold Ford by 8,000 units with 2.153 million sales globally to Ford’s 2.145 million.

Hyundai-Kia now takes the fourth place. In the roundup of the top 10 automakers by sales volume, Ford had the worst record, with a worldwide sales drop of 30.6%. Bumping Volkswagen off the second place isn’t that easy to accomplish. As of the midpoint of 2009, Hyundai-Kia trailed third-place automaker Volkswagen by nearly 1 million sales. Volkswagen’s sales dropped only 5.1% this year.
