Iacocca Silver 45th Anniversary Edition Ford Mustang revealed

Iacocca Silver 45th Anniversary Edition Ford MustangLee Iacocca, who introduced the first Ford Mustang at the New York World’s Fair forty-five years ago in 1964, made it recently public that they are coming out with a new variant of the legendary muscle car called the Iacocca Silver 45th Anniversary Ford Mustang.

There will only be 45 copies of the 2009½ special edition cars and each will feature a special Mustang fastback appearance and a specially chosen silver hue paint finish. The car was almost two years in the works and it is a joint project of Iacocca designer Michael Leone and Gaffoglio Family Metalcrafters. The car is the first of the latest customization program dubbed the I Legacy, and through Galpin Ford, a California-based dealership, the car becomes available to the public. More details and photos after the jump!

The Iacocca Silver Edition Mustang is, to a large degree, built by hand and comes with many exclusive features such as the deep-set headlights, inclined grill and low posture. Patterned after the underpinnings of the 2009 Mustang, the new version is offered with either a normally ventilated 4.6-liter V8 that produces 320hp (239kW) or the supercharged variant with 400hp (298kW) as option. Both models will receive a five-speed manual transmission as standard.

The suspension has also been improved to accommodate extra power. Included in the Ford Racing and Handling Pack are more rigid springs and re-valved shocks with an optional 14-inch Ford Racing Braking Package also available. The car sits atop 20 inch forged aluminum wheels. The interior of the car is equipped with diamond stitched leather trim, a signature dash plaque and serial number by Iacocca, a steering wheel wrapped in leather and door sill plates in aluminum. The car will arrive at the Galpin Ford dealership in Southern California in the latter part of July this year. Details of pricing and availability will be available soon.
