Infiniti considering a halo car based on the Nissan GT-R

Infiniti’s head of advanced planning, Francois Bancon, told Britain's CAR, that Nissan GT-R is “too good a platform to use on only one model,” hinting that a halo car may be built on the GT-R platform. Bancon said during the interview that there are “three or four” proposals being considered for a top-of-the-line vehicle, including at least one based on Nissan’s 542hp all-wheel drive supercar. However, there’s some sort of a disconnect between the Nissan GT-R and Infiniti, the luxury brand.
Any version that has an Infiniti badge would have to be softer-sprung and have a more luxurious interior. It would also probably be much heavier than the Nissan version. It’s believed that making the GT-R more refined would take away much of the car’s appeal. Infiniti is likely to take time in weighing its options.
Infiniti would still have to launch several new models such as the 2013 Infiniti JX crossover and a compact sedan based on the Etherea concept car. Bancon said that a final decision would likely come only after two or three years, which indicates that any halo car for the brand won’t make its debut until the end of the decade.
