Infiniti considering more hybrid vehicles

Infiniti will be revealing the M35h, its first hybrid vehicle, three months from now but already it is planning for more models to have the hybrid powertrain. According to Ben Poore, vice president of Infiniti, the M hybrid will be shown at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. The M stands for the first application of Nissan's home-grown hybrid system.
Poore wants to assure everyone that this drivetrain delivers "V-6 power at four-cylinder fuel economy levels." In a few US markets, hybrid Altimas are already being offered by Nissan (Infiniti's mass market sister brand).
However, Toyota is supplying those hybrid systems. Larry Dominique, Nissan North America's vice president of product planning for the Americas, said that the designers made sure that the M's hybrid system will fit all of Infiniti's rear-wheel-drive models, including the G sedan and coupe and the EX and FX crossovers. Infiniti's showrooms will display the hybrid M next spring. [via autonews - sub. required]
