How the crowd at the Paris Auto Show responds to the IPL G Cabrio Concept at the Paris auto show will determine if Infiniti will be able to compete with Audi's S, BMW's M and Mercedes-Benz's AMG models in Europe. Infiniti unveiled the IPL G Coupe, the first production model in its IPL (short for Infiniti Performance Line) range, in the US in August. This model begins selling in the US this December. The IPL G Cabrio Concept is powered by a 3.7-liter V-6 engine with 338 hp, an 18hp boost over the standard G Cabrio. The additional power stems from a high-flow dual exhaust system that enables the car to hit a top speed of 270kph and accelerate from a standstill to 100kph in less than 6 seconds.
The concept's maximum torque is boosted to 374 newton meters from 360 newton meters and its sports suspension includes recalibrated dampers and springs that are 10% stiffer than those on the regular G Cabrio. The exterior features on this sleek, strong concept include sculptured side sill extensions and bigger wheels that emphasize its stance.
"Nothing in the IPL philosophy calls for a let-up in the provision of features as standard. The IPL G Cabrio Concept maintains this Infiniti advantage by being superbly well equipped with an array of innovative comfort, convenience and safety technologies – just like the GT Premium model on which it is based and which has been available as part of the G Line in Infiniti Centres across Europe for more than a year." stated the press release.
