Infiniti reveals future hybrid lineup plans

Infiniti G37 Convertible
Carlos Tavares, CEO for Nissan product, expressed his hopes early in 2008 about expanding the Infiniti lineup to 10 or more nameplates within two years and conjectures of a new Q flagship sedan and super-sports car patterned on the platform of the GT-R quickly came out. Rumors has it that the future lineup for Infiniti will consist of the latest versions of the M sedan, QX SUV, and a gasoline-electric hybrid version.
It was revealed by John Capps, chairman of Infiniti's National Dealer Advisory Board, that he is expecting the latest G37 Convertible in the succeeding months and he further confirmed the arrival of a hybrid model as early as next year. Supposedly patterned on the G35 Sedan, Infiniti's design merges a RWD configuration with a parallel-mounted powertrain hybrid system which highlights two clutches. In this configuration, the electric motor is linked dricetly to the engine and transmission through two separate clutches.
Capps further revealed that, with regards to the Q45 flagship sedan replacement, the decision was still forthcoming as company officials are still watching how the economy turns out. According to Capps, most dealerships are expecting to see something in the range of the present G sedan, and that they are asking Infiniti for a whole new model in that segment, together with its derivatives. Another coveted vehicle is a crossover that will vend together with the present EX and FX models, a much needed vehicle since they do not have a core model in that segment. [source]
