Motor Trend had recently put on the World’s Greatest Drag Race, which had a price tag of more than $1.1 million. Motor Trend has always been known for its high-horsepower drag races. For this year, it got nine Best Driver’s Car contenders with 4730hp. In 2011, the World’s Greatest Drag Race got 11 high-performance cars at the former Marine Corps Air Station El Toro to determine which car could go the fastest in a straight line. This year, Motor Trend’s nine 2012 Best Driver’s Car contenders gathered on the same airfield in its attempt to gain YouTube fame. The participants in the World’s Greatest Drag Race 2 are more diverse than in the past. The 691-hp all-wheel drive Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 is the most powerful as well as the most expensive. On the other hand, the 200-hp rear-drive Subaru BRZ has the least power and the cheapest. The other vehicles in the field include the favourites such as the Nissan GT-R (which blew away the competition the race last year), the 662-hp Ford Shelby GT500, the 592-hp McLaren MP4-12C, and the 580-hp Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. The rest are comprised of the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series, the Jaguar XKR-S, and the Porsche 911 Carrera S, which won as the Best Driver’s Car 2012.
