Michael Schumacher himself confirms that he will be returning to Formula One to stand in for Ferrari‚ Felipe Massa, who got into a freak accident in the qualifying round at last weekend‚ Hungarian GP.
You could witness his comeback in the race scheduled on August 23, after F1‚ summer break. Schumacher‚ possible participation had been highly talked about. His manager Willi Weber had even denied it. Schumacher put everyone‚ doubts to rest when he issued this prepared statement: "This afternoon I met with team principal Stefano Domenicali and Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo and together we decided that I will prepare myself to take the place of Felipe. As the competitor I am, I also very much look forward to facing this challenge." Schumacher did not state how many races he would be joining but it can be assumed that he will stay and compete for the remainder of the season in Massa‚ car until his full recovery. It‚ still unknown whether Schumacher will continue racing after this stint. In the comeback of seven-time Formula One Champion, Schumacher will have odds against him as he has not tested this year's Ferrari F1 car and has not driven an F1 car at all since April last year.
