Jaguar developing new vehicle based on F-Type Concept

Jaguar F-Type Concept

The F-type Jaguar concept, which was first introduced in 2000 and was subsequently shelved, is currently being reported to stage a comeback amidst mixed and opposing opinions and conjectures. Jaguar has been reducing development projects under the management of Ford PAG, but Tata has a different vision and, indeed, under its able leadership the F-type Jaguar, a compelling alternative brand to the large German carmakers, finds a niche with a likelihood of hitting markets by 2011 and help lift Jaguar's image. An R-Coupe concept was revealed by Jaguar back in 2001 which could influence this car targeted at the new Audi R8. Patterned after the XK, with a possible XE designation, this mid-engined coupe will be powered by the 510 hp supercharged, 5.0-liter V8 of the XFR and would be the first car from Jaguar since the XJ220 to have such a mid-engine configuration. Contingent on its success, we might be able to see an XE in the 2010 Geneva Motor Show.
