Jaguar Land Rover preparing to make its cars greener than ever

2010 Jaguar XJFor Jaguar Land Rover to be a sustainable business, it must adapt to the needs of the changing global economy and society and “attack emissions like never before,” according to owner Tata Motors’s vice chairman Ravi Kant.

At the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders International Automotive Summit, Kant was a speaker and he warned UK carmakers in Birmingham and Liverpool that they may get the same fate as the big 3 companies in Detroit if they don’t adapt. Kant explained that this is JLR’s motivation in pursuing a major transformation plan. The new XJ is as beautiful as it is fuel-efficient. Continued after the jump!


Meanwhile, the Land Rover range has been refreshed and will soon have a new smaller Range Rover joining the lineup. It has been lauded to be the most environmentally friendly Land Rover ever.

Kant added that JLR is inching towards using lighter vehicle architectures for both brands. He said that the carmaker aims for its fuel efficiency to be further improved through hybridization and alternate energy options.

He even went as far as to say that the JLC can be a “protagonist in the UK’s drive for low-carbon leadership.”
