Bob Grace, president of Jaguar Land Rover China, told the China Daily that the luxury automaker plans to have 100 dealerships in China by the end of 2011, up from the current 60 outlets. Grace said that China is a key market, but declined to comment on reports that JLR is seeking a Chinese partner to make vehicles in the country. In Beijing last January 2011, Jaguar opened a flagship showroom that is expected to sell about 400 cars in 2011.

Jaguar also has opened a new dealership in Tianjin, which has targeted annual sales of 200 units. In a move to help new dealers, Jaguar plans to launch a training academy in Beijing in the first half of 2010.

In 2010, Jaguar sales in China rose 50 percent to 2,700 units, while Land Rover sales doubled to 23,500 units.

In 2010, the company opened a training academy in Shanghai. Tata Motors Ltd. of India is the parent company of luxury carmaker Jaguar Land Rover. [via autonews - sub. required]
