Jaguar Land Rover's road to recovery continues in April, with worldwide sales increasing by 61%, compared with figures for the same period taken a year ago. Last month, JLR sold 17,909 vehicles throughout the globe. For April, 3,559 Jaguars were sold, nearly the same as the prior year. JLR expects about the same number of sold cars for this month despite the withdrawal of X-Type, with Jaguar XF sales up by 23%. Land Rover sales increased by 89% to 14,350 units. Last year, Jaguar Land Rover had struggled when the luxury car sales dropped significantly during the economic crisis. However, the Land Rover had been instrument in the company's effort to increase the demand for upgraded versions of the Discovery (known as the LR3 in the US) and Range Rover Sport. These two were launched in 2009. Previously, former General Motors Europe President Carl-Peter Forster was recognized as CEO of Tata Motors Ltd. and former BMW AG and Ford Motor Co. executive Ralf Speth became JLR CEO.
