A picture recently released of Jaguar's new F-Type shows off styling details that are somewhat similar to those of the legendary E-Type. Jaguar released the picture ahead of the F-Type’s international debut at the Paris Auto Show that is scheduled to start on September 19 and last until October 14. While the picture shows that the F-Type will have a contemporary look, it does carry some E-Type references like the hood-length central bulge, the near-oval of the protruding grille and the falling body line towards the tail. Jaguar considers the F-Type, its fourth and smallest model, as very important since it signals the carmakers return to building sporty vehicles after decades of concentrating on luxury sedans. The F-Type also retains most of the styling cues of the C-X16 coupe concept that Jaguar unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt auto show.
These cues include a front end having dual side intake and L-shaped driving lights set within the headlights as well as a chrome-ringed grille. Jaguar will start selling the F-Type next spring and will carry a price of around £55,000 (EUR70,000, $86,000). It will rival the more expensive Porsche 911, a source privy to the carmaker told Automotive News Europe.
The F-Type will be available with three engine choices: two versions of Jaguar’s all-new 3-0-liter V6 supercharged gasoline engine with outputs of 340 hp and 380 hp, and a version of its current 5.0- liter supercharged gasoline V8. Jaguar has disclosed that the F-Type's all-aluminum construction enables it to be lighter, resulting to better performance and emissions. It’s possible that Jaguar would also produce a production coupe or a hybrid version of the F-Type, but the carmaker has yet to confirm these details. [source: MotorAuthority]
