Jaguar’s sales in August 2010 were 75% higher than in August 2009 – a strong indicator that the auto industry crisis is over. This marks the British manufacturer’s best sales for the month of August in two years. Jaguar was able to sell 209 XFs and 1,116 XKs last month, representing a small fraction of the total 9,952 new Jags that hit the roads. Geoff Cousins, Jaguar UK managing director, said that August is typically a slower month for UK sales but that it has been the “busiest August for two years.”
He attributes the sales increase to several “compelling new models, competitive offers and a cut-through TV advertising campaign for XF and XJ.” He added that the company believes that consumer confidence is returning. He divulged that each one of the 20 £85,500 XKR 75 models offered in the UK has been ordered.
Dealerships reported that only three weeks after it debuted an exclusive model at the Goodwood Festival if Speed in July, the unit sold out.
"While August is traditionally a quieter month for car sales in the UK, we have had our busiest August for two years. Some compelling new models, competitive offers and a cut-through TV advertising campaign for XF and XJ are helping to drive retail sales." said Geoff Cousins, Managing Director, Jaguar UK.
